Troféu José Finkel – Day 4

Men’s 200 fly

Leonardo de Deus used his experience to take the event, winning with a solid end: 1’56”53, far from his best but still enough for gold. Kaio Marcio Almeida, who is also really experient in the event, the former record holder in short course actually, was silver with 1’57”80. Lucas Salatta, who is backing to the podium, was third with 1’58”29.

Women’s 200 fly

Joanna Maranhão didn’t like her race, she felt weird swimming, almost withour air and wished could swim again, but won anyway with 2’13”75. Her end was really unusual, she never gets tired as much. Manuella Lyrio, on the other hand, made very good splits, almost catching her teammate, finishing in second with 2’14”19. Giovanna Diamante, another one who is backing, was thir with 2’15”95.

Men’s 100 breast

Talking about getting back, João Luiz Jr, who was banned for doping until June, returned in great style, as we’re used to say in Brazil, and posted his PB with 1’00”27. But the gold was to Felipe França with 1’00”14. Felipe Lima was third with 1’00”41. The two trials will be really interesting to know who will be take the olympic spots.

Women’s 100 breast

Taylor McKeown, as expepected, won easily with new championship record: 1’08”23. Jhennyfer Conceição came really close to her PB, as best brazilian: 1’09”09. The argentina Julian Sebastian was third with 1’09”95. Beatriz Travalon and Juliana Marin also won their medals.

Men’s 800 free

Not a strong event. As Luis Arapiraca told us on Periscope, the guys are not worried about times here. They just want to help their teams, since it’s not a trial. So they “cook” each other until the last split, and brace themselves. Miguel Valente “braced better” and won with 8’08”68, followed by Luis with 8’09”25 and Lucas Kanieski with 8’09”39.

The 400 free relays

Good relays. Three women under 55”. Daynara de Paula, Larissa Martins and Daiene Becker anchoring for their teams. The best weas 54”5 from Daiene. One men inder 48”: Matheus Santana with 47”82. Bruno Fratus anchored with 48”11. Marcelo Chierighini led off in 48”53.
